Build learning around the work people must perform.

Workforce learning should improve how people perform real work. ELN designs learning around tasks, decisions, standards, equipment, workplace conditions and the support people receive before and after formal learning.

A connected pathway may combine induction, digital learning, manager conversations, scenario practice, job aids, observation, coaching, assessment and reinforcement.

Managers and supervisors are treated as part of the transfer environment because their expectations, feedback and opportunities for practice often determine whether learning is applied.

ELN can also use immersive learning and digital twins where access, risk, cost, consistency or rare events make conventional practice difficult. Technology is used when it creates a meaningful advantage, not simply because it is available.

  • Employees pass the quiz but still need the task explained.
  • Procedures are presented without realistic decisions.
  • Managers reteach formal learning after completion.
  • Mandatory training has become an annual exercise.
  • Completion data is treated as proof of capability.
